This is an 11 year old jumping horse that has become “crabby”. The horse does not want to go forward, resists encouragement to go forward by rearing and bucking.
Examination shows the back is very painful, reluctant to dorsiflex or ventriflex and resists attempts to get the horse to move its lumbosacral area. All limbs and joints were within normal expectations.
Thermal imaging revealed an abnormal back pattern consistent with “kissing spine” and radiographs confirmed.
