The American Academy of Thermology (AAT) is a premiere global professional organization dedicated to the advancement of medical infrared imaging. AAT was founded in 1971 and is a multi-disciplinary 501(c)3 non-profit organization that promotes education, research and the clinical application of medical infrared imaging. The AAT’s Mission is to improve the delivery of patient care by advancing the field of medical Infrared Imaging through education, research and technological innovation.

What We Provide

The AAT works to establish and maintain standards and guidelines of excellence in the practice of medical thermology, for education and research in thermology, and to promote and encourage contributions to the medical and scientific literature pertaining to thermology. The AAT also strives to establish personal contacts between those interested in thermology who seek advice and assistance on technical, interpretive and economic aspects of thermology, to encourage personal and scientific contacts between thermologists and other medical and scientific specialties, and to establish periodic scientific meetings for the presentation of clinical and experimental observations on thermal biology.

The AAT provides a forum for those who have interest in medically related conditions. The American Academy of Thermology holds annual conferences for the presentation of scientific and professional papers in cooperation with the international thermology community. The AAT prepares and publishes peer reviewed guidelines for the use of medical infrared imaging. Relevant articles for publication may be submitted to the AAT for publication in its peer reviewed affiliated journals. Case studies collaborated by other conventional imaging may be submitted for peer review and publication in the AAT Atlas of Medical Conditions. Continuing medical education credits are offered by the Academy at its Annual Scientific Session.
