Posted on August 14, 2018, updated on September 30, 2019

70 yo male with a chief complaint of right foot and knee pain of six months duration.  He denies any event but was an avid athlete when he was younger.  There is no weakness or numbness but he says his foot will swell intermittently, in particular at the ankle.  He has a family history of gout and recent laboratory shows uric acid to be elevated at 9.7.  He admits that he drinks too much.  Lower Body SSR study showed an asymmetry pattern with increased heat over the anterior aspect of the patellar tendon and dorsal foot on right.
