Carpal Tunnel

53 year old male with severe pain in both hands diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome. Patient has a long history of alcohol abuse and had a traumatic brain injury in 1983, which resulted in grand mal seizures periodically. The patient has high blood pressure as well. He does not take any medication for either disorder. It has been recommended that he have carpal tunnel surgery. He has refused but states that his hands are numb most of the time, especially at night. He has lost strength in both hands and is having trouble making a fist.
