As a multidisciplinary organization, the AAT clearly recognizes the importance and value of all thermology members in ensuring the appropriate and safe use of this unique modality. However, to recognize individuals who have demonstrated substantial accomplishments in the field of thermology, the AAT established the category of Senior Member.

Although all AAT members who have been general members for at least two consecutive years are eligible to apply for Senior status, designation as a Senior Member is not automatic; indeed, only a small percentage of members meet all the requirements.

Qualifications

Physicians, Non-Physicians, Scientists, and Others:

  • Two consecutive years of participation as an AAT General Member at the time of application
  • Three years of experience in thermology-related activities
  • AAT organizational participation
  • Demonstration of substantial accomplishment in at least 1 of the following areas as it relates to thermography
    • scientific investigation
    • sustained teaching
  • Possession of one of the following advanced degrees, certifications, or equivalents: MD, DO, DC, PhD, DDS, DPM, DVM, NP, PA
  • Two letters of recommendation from current AAT Senior Members or Fellow Members (contact the AAT for a current list).

Thermology Industry Professionals

  • Two consecutive years of participation as an AAT General Member at the time of application
  • Three years of experience in thermology
  • Substantial AAT organizational service
  • Two letters of recommendation from current AAT Senior Members or Fellow Members (contact the AAT for a current list).
  • One letter of recommendation from AAT leadership (including AAT CEO, current committee chairs, or current Executive Council members)

Senior Member Application Process

An announcement is made in the fall of every year that Senior Membership applications will be accepted for those who meet the above criteria. Applications and associated materials are reviewed by the AAT membership committee and recommendations are forwarded to the Executive Council for approval. Applicants will be notified of their status following the Executive Council meeting by late spring. Applicants who are not approved as Senior Members will receive letters detailing which of the criteria they did not meet. Once the criterion or criteria have been met, applicants may reapply in subsequent years, without payment of an additional application-processing fee.

To apply for Senior Member status, interested members should

  1. Download the application OR contact the AAT office for a Senior Member application.
  2. Complete all applicable questions on the application.
  3. Submit the following materials via e-mail or mail to:
